All weddings are special, but there is always a little added excitement for us when we are booked for a destination wedding. I think part of it is because we LOVE to travel. Getting booked for destination weddings is also very flattering. When Cody and Brecken asked us to travel hundreds of miles because they admired our cinematic style and story telling, we felt validated that all the hard work we are putting in behind the scenes is coming across in our films.

Ismael and I love the outdoors. Hiking, sports, fishing, you name it. In fact, spending time outdoors and capturing nature's beauty is what originally lead us to becoming videographers. We have always heard people talk about how beautiful Alaska is, and boy, it did not disappoint!! If you watch Cody and Brecken’s destination wedding film, I think Cody does a great job describing the Alaska’s majesty. It is the cinematographers paradise. I actually don’t think it’s possible to take a bad picture in Alaska.

We always try hard to minimize travel expenses for our couples when traveling for a destination wedding. You could describe the Air BnB we stayed in as simple! You should definitely watch our instagram story from the trip so you can see what it was like only having to do wall sits to take a shower! Haha. We looked at it like a good warm up exercise in the mornings to get our blood going.

Brecken and Cody’s parents are unbelievably nice people. They were so including and made us feel like we were part of the family from the moment we arrived. Sometimes with destination weddings we feel rushed to capture as much as we can in a short time, but Brecken and Cody’s wedding was different. They asked us to spend extra time with them in their hometown of Wasilla gave us a chance to really learn about their love story and film with intention. I think you can feel this when you watch their wedding film.

Relationships are hard. They take work from both parties to be successful. For Paige and Kyle, it never felt like work. At one point they lived on opposite sides of the United States separated by over 2,000 miles, but there was never a question in their minds that they were meant to be together. When you know, you know and THEY KNEW from the very beginning.

We learned that Paige and Kyle met in Arizona playing kickball near Papago Park. We planned to meet them on the kickball fields a few days before their wedding to learn more about their #lovestory. Knowing they were going to bring their toddler with, we packed a picnic cooler full of gold fish, juice, and a big red monster truck to keep Breyson happy while we got to know his parents. We even had one of our favorite make up artists, Haley Blaine (https://www.haleyblaine.com), meet us at the park to glam out Paige!

Filming their #lovestory at the place where they first met added something extra to their wedding film. From the perspective of a story teller, it was special to watch Paige and Kyle playing kickball with their son in the same place they met.

Aside from their #lovestory, the thing I found particularly inspiring about their relationship is how they communicate. They shared with us about how they regularly talk about their future together, financial planning, and what they wanted out of life. They are on the same page and function as a one team working towards common goals. These are things we've tried to emulate in our own relationships.

Hands down, our favorite moment of their wedding was their first look. Words or even pictures wouldn't do their first look justice; however, I think you can FEEL it when you watch their wedding film.

Paige and Kyle's reaction to their wedding film was priceless. They've made watching their wedding film a monthly tradition. Now they get to share it with the new addition to their family, Marlena!

If you have time you should watch this post they made on their Instagram story last month. It is adorable!! Make sure you watch until the end.

There is a lot to learn from Kimberly and Josh. Just by being around them for a few minutes you can see they are truly soulmates. Not only do they have a great relationship, but they are also both sincerely kind and caring people. The cherry on top of it all was their plan to have a brunch wedding.

As I am sure you already know, when it comes to cinematography, lighting is everything. When Kim and Josh told us they were having a brunch wedding, my mind started running and the prospect of a sunrise first look had us drooling! When planning we coordinated with the photographer, Ashley Stone, to make this happen. The sunrise footage with the desert mountains in the background was well worth waking up at 4:00 am!

When we saw Josh dancing with Kimberly, it was easy imagine how he'd swept her off her feet on their first date! One of my favorite parts of their entire wedding came at the end of their reception. Josh and Kim made plans for an after party at a local bar where everyone went to continue the celebration. At the bar there was a live band who dedicated "Fishin' in the Dark" to Josh and Kim. It was sooooo cute, we just had to make them a little extra edit for them to share on their Instagram page. Check it out below:

We love to make these little edits special for instagram because they are so much fun to share with friends and family. When we edit something for Instagram, we usually make it in the 4:5 aspect ratio. This means it takes up more of the screen and is edited specifically to be watched on a phone.

Spending the weekend with these two was a blast! You can watch their film below:
